We are seeking recent college graduates who can teach all middle school and high school science subjects (earth sciences, biology, chemistry, and physics) to join our tutoring team. The Science Tutor position is full-time and remote. Salary and compensation package is very competitive. General responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assessing students’ academic strengths and weaknesses from sessions and classwork
  • Developing a custom tutoring roadmap for each student
  • Conducting one-on-one lessons and study support for students taking science classes
  • Preparing study materials, review, and lessons as needed based on the student’s personal needs
  • Adapting lessons and materials based on each student’s science class curriculum, syllabus, teaching style, and grading
  • Sending follow-up notes with a summary of the session after each session
  • Attending weekly student overview meetings and professional development trainings on a quarterly basis
  • Developing new materials/content and supporting team members in creating shared resources
  • Staying up-to-date on new developments to AP test changes
  • Assisting with and taking the lead on other projects related to company development
  • Reporting directly to the Director of Tutoring

Requirements:

  • Completion of a BA/BS degree
  • Minimum of 1 year of science teaching and/or tutoring experience in the following: middle school science classes, biology, chemistry, AP biology, AP chemistry, AP Physics 1, AP Physics 2, AP Physics C
  • Plus: able to teach all sections of the SAT and ACT
    Must include a cover letter with your resume
    Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
  • Strong interests in education and developmental psychology
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively in a small, high-functioning team
  • Self-starter with strong communication and organizational skills along with excellent follow- through
  • Has strong work ethic, ethics, integrity, and accountability

General job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Mentoring a select number of high school students and providing high-touch assistance with all aspects of the college admissions process, including (but not limited to):

  • Providing guidance/feedback on college lists, essays, scholarships, and applications
  • Conducting interview prep, resume revision, and summer program/internship search assistance
  • Strategizing course selection, extracurriculars, and volunteer opportunities
  • Forging strong mentor-mentee relationships and helping students develop academically, personally, and emotionally

Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree from an Ivy League or top-tier college
  • Excellent organizational skills, focus, can-do mentality, and attention to detail
  • Experience with education, mentoring, advising, and/or tutoring
  • Extremely strong reading, writing, and editing skills
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills, excellent follow-through, and ability to come up with creative solutions as well work independently and collaboratively on a small team
  • Able to maintain an excellent work ethic and high level of enthusiasm/energy

  • Assessing students’ academic strengths and weaknesses from diagnostic tests and initial sessions

  • Conducting one-on-one and group online lessons in ACT English, Math, Reading, and Science and SAT Reading, Writing/Language, and Math
  • Preparing, assigning, and grading all assignments, tests, and quizzes
  • Sending follow up notes with a summary of the session after each session
  • Attending weekly student overview meetings and professional development trainings on a quarterly basis

  • Staying up-to-date on new developments to standardized test requirements from top schools
