An Emotionally Intelligent Approach for Today's Admissions Landscape
College admissions asks students to perform under intense scrutiny while producing something genuinely their own, a difficult balance that becomes impossible under real stress or burnout. Dr. Marc Brackett, founding director of the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence, is a Command board member who brings world-leading expertise and training to our team. Command develops our mentors’ ability to connect with students in a way that builds confidence, reduces stress, and energize the experience. The result: students don’t just earn admission; they arrive at college with the emotional maturity to thrive.

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes Command different from other admissions consultants?
Command is built around a relationship-driven, long-term mentorship model. Each student works closely with a full-time near-peer mentor from a top university who provides continuous guidance from start to finish. Unlike more traditional consulting models, our work is not episodic or transactional. Mentors serve as both strategic advisors and active partners—guiding students through each stage while also ensuring that ideas are executed and progress is sustained.
Students also benefit from the broader Command team, with access to specialists in test preparation, essay development, and project work. We also have an in-house design team that supports students in developing and presenting more advanced projects, helping bring their ideas to life at a high level. All of this work is supported by the Command Admissions Advisory Board of former admissions officers who provide institutional perspective, strategic counsel, and review at key milestones, including student positioning and senior application review.
By bringing together Ivy League mentors and our Admissions Advisory Board, Command Education is uniquely equipped with firsthand experience from both sides of the admissions desk: we know exactly what it takes to authentically develop a compelling applicant and what admissions officers look for as they evaluate them.
This combination of consistent one-on-one mentorship and team-based support allows for both depth and continuity, extending beyond the application itself to help students develop direction, build meaningful work, and achieve strong admissions outcomes while preparing for long-term success.
Who are your mentors, and how are they different from traditional consultants?
Command Education was founded on a research-backed insight: when students feel inspired and supported, they gain the confidence to pursue their passions and thrive in the competitive admissions process. That’s why we pioneered the near-peer mentorship model, a student-centered, emotionally intelligent approach that has become the gold standard in college admissions counseling.
Our mentors are Ivy League graduates, award-winning scholars, seasoned researchers, and published authors. Beyond their credentials, they bring recent, firsthand experience navigating today’s admissions landscape, making them highly relatable role models who speak students’ language. All of our mentors are full-time and have graduated from the same institutions our students are seeking to attend. More importantly, they are selected for their ability to build meaningful relationships with students and guide them through a multi-year process.
Because mentors are closer in age and have recently navigated the same process, they are more relatable and motivating for students, driving stronger engagement and follow-through than more traditional advising models.
Command Education also maintains one of the lowest student-to-mentor ratios in the industry, giving mentors the time and focus to move beyond transactional advising toward a lasting partnership with each student.

Does Command utilize former admissions officers in the college counseling process?
Yes! Through the Command Admissions Advisory Board, we are able to bring former admissions officers with decades of combined admissions experience who consult with Command, providing institutional perspective, strategic counsel, and review at key milestones for every Command student.
At Command Education, our approach to mentorship and college admissions counseling is built on a rigorous, multi-layered strategy drawing on the collective intelligence of our mentors, senior directors of mentorship, college application specialists, and admissions experts. We don’t just guide students through the process; we translate complex admissions expectations into an actionable, individualized plan that motivates students while providing families with the institutional expertise they value.
By bringing together Ivy League mentors and our Admissions Advisory Board, Command Education is uniquely equipped with firsthand experience from both sides of the admissions desk: we know exactly what it takes to authentically develop a compelling applicant and what admissions officers look for as they evaluate them.
How does Command measure its 97% success rate?
This figure reflects Class of 2026 graduates who began working with Command Education in 9th or 10th grade and followed our recommended guidance throughout the process. “Top three college choices” reflects each student’s stated preferences at the time of application.
How do you measure success, beyond admissions numbers?
Our 97% admissions rate speaks for itself, but we care just as much about how a student grows along the way. Families consistently report meaningful gains in confidence, independence, and readiness. Further, our holistic support relieves the stress of the admissions process from the parent-child relationship, allowing parents to be parents while we do the rest. The result is a stronger family bond and reduced stress for both parents and students. Success is not just an acceptance letter, but a young adult better prepared for what comes next.
What is the investment to work with Command?
Command is a highly personalized engagement, and our programs are structured accordingly. Families who work with us are typically making a meaningful investment in their child’s development, particularly when engaging over multiple years.
Investment varies by student, since every engagement is personalized to your student’s stage and the scope of support they need. Multi-year engagements beginning in middle or early high school are typically in the high five-figures annually, which can include comprehensive ACT/SAT test prep alongside ongoing college counseling mentorship. Over the full length of a multi-year engagement, total investment is six figures, reflecting years of consistent, weekly support across the full arc of a student’s development.
Regardless of program length, the investment you agree to at the outset is the investment you’ll make. There is no second invoice for extra hours, additional essay rounds, test prep, or last-minute interview prep. For most families, this is one of the most significant investments they will make in their child’s future: a partnership that prepares their student not only to gain admission to their dream school, but to thrive in the next phase of their life. Our proven track record of success reflects the value of that investment.
We’re glad to walk through what a program structured for your family would actually look like, so you can make a confident, informed decision before you commit.
