ā€œWe want to thank you for your work with Olivia over the last couple of months. You’ve put her in a position to succeed like no one she’s ever worked with. We could not have asked for more than what you’ve given her. I’ve been an adjunct professor for 20+ years, and in my teaching I always recall something on of my Jesuit professors told me about the role of an educator – ā€˜you need to get through to them.’ You’ve done that with Olivia. She’s very lucky to have worked with you.ā€

Parent FAQ

What does a session with a Senior Mentor look like?

Session plans are entirely individualized and tailored to a student’s interests, passions, learning styles, goals, and stage in the college admissions process. For more information about what your student can expect from working with a Senior Mentor, check out our Q&A with Senior Mentor Henry!

When are mentors available to meet with students?

Mentors can meet with students seven days a week, and are accessible to answer questions or check-in via phone, text, or email.

How involved are parents in the mentorship process?

Parents are invited to periodic calls to discuss students’ progress and future goals and receive follow-up emails with key updates following each mentoring session. At the same time, Command Education emphasizes a student-led approach to the process, meaning that parents are empowered to be a supportive figure while encouraging students’ independence and autonomy.

My student is overcommitted. How can they make time to meet with their mentors if they are already overwhelmed?

Though Senior Mentors meet with students on a regular basis, they are very flexible when scheduling and meet with students at their convenience. They also work with students to develop the scheduling and organizational skills needed to manage their various commitments both in and beyond the classroom.

How do mentors know what colleges are looking for?

There is more publicly available information about the college admissions process than ever before—it doesn’t take a former admissions officer to know that Harvard rates students in core areas on a scale from 1–6 or that students who submit test scores fare better at even test-optional schools. While former admissions officers know how to read stellar applications, our Senior Mentors know how to craft them. As recent graduates of Ivy League and other top institutions, our Senior Mentors are uniquely equipped to help students build applications that will stop admissions officers in their tracks. Additionally, our team brings a decade of results-proven insights into the admissions process from students who have earned admission to their dream schools. Students who work with Command benefit from the 1:1 attention of a dedicated Senior Mentor and the insights of a team of admissions experts. For more, check out our Q&A with Senior Mentor Erin.

The earlier students start work with our mentors, the more time they have to create a strong application and begin building their bright future.
